interesting articles i’ve found today
Each day I find an overabundance of websites that have amazing articles. Some I read and then bookmark for future reference, others get read and then closed. Today I thought I’d share those sites with you. This entry will be updated throughout the day as I find more.
Mountain Dew is the devil…sorta
Anyone who hangs out with me on even a semi-regular basis will notice that I have three staple beverages. The first is Mountain Dew, the second is Heineken, and the third is a 1 litre bottle of water that I continuously refill.
Now the argument of water being good for you or not is a mute point. It has a pretty obvious answer. Heineken on the other hand could be argued, but considering it’s amazing ability to help me dance among other things it’s staying. Which leaves us with Mountain Dew.
The fact that I even drink pop in general amazes people when they find out that I’m a Pescetarian. I can’t remember when I got hooked up it, but I venture to guess it was sometime just after high school when I started to make more of my own choices for what I consumed in the food department. Lately however I’ve been questions my decision to drink pop. I even stopped drinking pop all together for a week about 4 months ago in an effort to see the effect it had on how I felt. After feeling so much better after becoming a Vegetarian about this time last year and then eventually moving on to a Pescetarian, I had high hopes of for removing pop from my diet. At the end of the week I could tell an amazing difference. Somehow however I slipped back into my old habit and within another week or so I was back to drinking it as usual.
Today I am going to try again in giving up pop all together. I’m sure some people will laugh at me and say it’s such an easy thing to do. Think about going to any restaurant, fast food or not. The corporate food industry has built the way you build your ‘value’ meal around pop.
I haven’t decided how long I will give it up or if I will ever drink pop again. I will take an educated guess and say I will probably go at least 2-4 weeks without any pop and then possibly have one on occasion after that. For now I will leave you with a photo of the ‘the king’ reading the nutritional information on a Mountain Dew can.
still alive and kicking
I keep saying I’m going to update, but it never happens. There are various reasons why, but it really comes down to the fact that so many people know about this blog now that it’s not quite as fun. I should start a new blog under a pen name where I can rant, rave, and generally talk about whatever I want. Here is a quick update of what’s new.
My brother and I moved to a new apartment out in Walker. You can see our backyard here. The best way to describe it is “the exact opposite of York Creek”.
Blake and Amy got married a few weeks ago. We spent the better part of three days in Kalamazoo and rocked out. I will definitely post photos when we get them back from the photog.
I’ve also signed up for a couple photo classes/seminars. My obsession for education and learning got the best of me. It’s nice because I don’t have to get any good grades in these or even do work. All I have to do is show up and learn which I absolutely love. I also shot a few weddings this summer, mainly as a means to help support the photography habit. I haven’t posted any photos from the weddings and probably won’t. I won’t say you won’t for sure because I might post a few highlights over the next couple weeks.
I’ve also been obsessed with camera phones the past few months. I can snap photos quick and upload them to my flickr account.
I changed up the diet a bit after being a vegetarian for almost a year, I’m now a pescetarian which pretty much means I eat seafood now. In reality I only eat tuna and really cold water fish.
This is turning into a much longer post than I had anticipated. When you don’t post for as long as I did I suppose it’s easy to ramble about the past month.
p.s. I have an iPhone that is hacked and running on T-Mobile. Screw you AT&T.
p.p.s. My birthday is in 5 days and I’ll be 26. I feel rather young and will never grow up.
p.p.p.s. I just reread this post and decided I’m seriously rusty with regards to my writing skills, I will work on that for future posts.
